We found it to be very green!             << previous page

Feedback re our 10 days in Dominica
The Island itself. We found it to be very green. The islanders very friendly and helpful. Not a place for a beach holiday (which we neither wanted or expected). We also felt very safe. The great thing is that people are generally laid back and you can shop at the stalls etc without the usual hassle of people trying to sell you things aggressively. Most stall holders merely said "if you don't see the size you want just ask".The taxi drivers in Rosseau were the nearest thing we came upon as a 'hard sell' when the cruise shops were in.
Accommadation. Calibishe lodges. The lodge had a good view from our upstairs lodge. Was not aware Orlando Bloom stopped there during the filming of the Pirates of the Caribbean. The lodges are rustic but comfortable. The hosts Chris and Linda were extremely accommadating and made us feel so welcome. They treated us like they would a son and daughter. They gave helpful advice and certainly made our holiday special. The guide 'Webster' was second to none. He was knowledgeable helpful and fun to be with. On our 'free' day Chris and Linda suggested we had a day with the 'birdy man' a Mr baptiste. He took us to Syndicate park and was superb at spotting and finding birds and animals. We saw 3 Sisserou parrots and a number of Jacko's. The Indian river was an interesting trip. Fort Young was really like any other Hotel, but is in a very good location. We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens. The Whale watching was very successful. We saw Dolphins and we also saw five Sperm whales on the surface at one time. Pappilot is a serene setting. Quiet and tranquil. The Begonia suite could do with a bit of updating, but the venue itself is like paradise. We did go on the forest tram. A trip not to be missed. We also walked to Watten Waven and enjoyed the mineral pools without seeing anyone else. The food was good and I enjoy 'creole' dishes. Lettuce and cucumber with my bacon and eggs took a bit of getting used to.
Finally we are impressed with the trip you put together for us and would certainly consider you first in any future trips to the Caribbean. You are welcome to use any of our feedback. Thanks for a great holiday. Adrian and Kathleen, Cambs
