Grenada is the ideal destination for those seeking a relaxing, tropical holiday on what must be one of the friendliest, most picturesque islands in the Caribbean. Situated in the Windward Islands and just north of Trinidad & Tobago, this pretty little island is known as the 'Isle of Spice' and you might just catch the scents of nutmegs, cinnamon or cloves wafting on the balmy air. With lush landscapes, over forty wonderful white sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, beautiful gardens and colonial homes, the unspoiled genuine charm of this island will win you over. The capital, St. Georges, is one of the prettiest towns in the Caribbean with its almost landlocked harbour, quaint streets and historic ambiance.
The temptation to simply lie back and re-charge your batteries at one of the island's top-class charming hotels is overwhelming, but there is so much to see and do in Grenada. You could hike the trails that cross the national parks, visit wonderful plantation homes and gardens, do some serious siight-seeing or snorkel over the extensive reef formations. You could also combine Grenada with a visit to lovely little Carriacou in the Grenadines, which is only a twenty minute flight or a ninety minute ferry ride away. The diving in Grenada is very good but in Carriacou, it is out of this world and the island itself is very quiet and low-key.
