A perfectly preserved Spanish colonial town, founded in 1514 but where time has seemed to stand still in 1880, Trinidad is perhaps the most picturesque town in all of Cuba. Considered by many to be the best hotel on the island, the Iberostar Grand Trinidad is located in the heart of the city, with the main square, restaurants and nightlife all nearby.
Trinidad is ideally situated between the Escambray Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. Many interesting excursions can be taken in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding hills and valleys, which are criss-crossed by some of Cuba's best hiking trails. For sun and sand seekers, the beach at Playa Ancon is a magnificent expanse of white sand. There are a few hotels to be found here, the best of these being the Hotel Brisas del Mar, which is now also offering its all-inclusive facilities as a 'day use' option. Perfectly located between Havana and Trinidad is the attractive, breezy port of Cienfuegos. With a distinct French colonial feel, the city has plenty of Cuban charm and certainly also warrants a visit.
