This is a 10 day itinerary that would suit those that prefer to be more active. If you are feeling truly adventurous, then you could choose a day trekking to Boiling Lake, head underwater to do some scuba diving, ride horses in the forest, zip lines through the tree tops or try any one of numerous other activities. Want to spend a few more days in Dominica or one of the other islands? You can always add additional days at any of these hotels or let us suggest some others. We will be happy to tailor-make a Dominica experience for you, just contact us for ideas!

Day 1

Arrive in Dominica and transfer to the charming Beau Rive Hotel, nestled 240 ft above sea level with dramatic views to the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 2
Visit the Carib Territory, the only indigenous peoples reserve in the Caribbean. Drive to Emerald Pool, and then walk through overhanging trees and lush vegetation to perhaps have a dip in the waterfall and shimmering pool. Overnight at Beau Rive.
Day 3
Travel to rainforest at Syndicate in the foothills of Morne Diablotin, to look for the island's national bird the Imperial Parrot and the Red Necked Parrot, both endemics to Dominica. You will also hopefully see nine other regional endemics on this trip. Continue on to famous Indian River, which has recently been used as a location for Pirates of the Caribbean. Rowboats go to an area where the river narrows and you can take a walk or go to the bush bar for a drink. Overnight in the capital, Roseau, at The Fort Young Hotel.
Day 4
Morning free to explore Roseau. Afternoon is spent on a Whale and Dolphin Safari. Dominica is blessed with an abundance of resident and visiting cetaceans, pods of Spinner and Spotted Dolphins, Pilot Whales, Sperm Whales, False Orcas and at least a dozen other species. Overnight at Fort Young.
Day 5
This morning you will have an opportunity to travel by boat and snorkel at Scotts Head/ Soufriere Marine Reserve, one of the best marine sites in the Caribbean with a pristine coral reef, deep water fish and invertebrates. There is a spectacular undersea crater with a unique underwater hot spring at Champagne. Here you can snorkel amongst the bubbles formed from volcanic gases just offshore. In the afternoon you will head out of Roseau to Freshwater Lake to take a kayak or follow the hour-long trail around the shore. You could then carry on to a more difficult trail to the mist-shrouded Boeri Lake at 2,800 ft. You will then continue on to Papilotte Wilderness Retreat where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure to enjoy the wonderful landscaped gardens inhabited by over 30 species of birds and 19 species of butterflies, with hot and cold waterfalls and soothing steamy mineral pools.
Day 6
Take an airborne journey on the Rainforest Aerial Tram through and above the rainforest. Naturalist guides explain the flora and fauna of the canopy, with over 175 species of birds and the views are spectacular. On the return, stop to explore or swim at the popular Trafalgar Falls. Overnight at Papilotte.
Day 7
The more adventurous can attempt the optional, arduous 6-7 hour hike to Boiling Lake. The trail starts in lush rainforest, then moves up into the elfin forests to higher ground and more difficult terrain. It also passes through the Valley of Desolation, an area where there is lots of volcanic related activities such as fumaroles and Sulphur pits. The lake itself is said to be the biggest of its kind in the world at about 200 ft in diameter and is inside a crater. Overnight at Papilotte.
Day 8
Transfer to Jungle Bay Resort & Spa, a 55 acre tropical forest hideaway with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. Many on and off site activities for adventure and relaxation are available from here, as well as a selection of inclusive activities that change daily including yoga, hiking, mountain biking, visiting local communities and much more. Or you can simply relax by the pool, on the beach or enjoy a massage or a facial at the Spa.
