Citrus Creek Plantation
Citrus Creek Plantation is a collection of nine unique cottages and villas, located in La Plaine, on the wild “East” coast of Dominica. It has taken the French owners seven years of dedicated hard work to transform this wonderful twenty-acre estate, while preserving its “plantation” atmosphere. They have planted hundreds of fruit trees, mainly citrus, to complement the mangoes, banana and coconut trees that were already present in this fertile and protected valley. The plantation, which is completely organic, runs alongside the Taberi River and faces Bout Sable beach, where turtles come to nest in season. This peaceful heaven in a protected valley lies just beneath the Trois Pitons National Park and is surrounded by hundreds of acres of prime tropical forest.
The nine cottages and villas are individually designed and built of local stone and wood, following traditional local building techniques. They are all simple, spacious, efficient and harmonious with the environment, nestled in the large landscaped tropical gardens. Every cottage has a kitchen, where complimentary breakfasts are prepared and served. There is an excellent restaurant on site, the Riverside Café, serving local produce cooked with a French touch, on a veranda facing the river.
Crescent Moon Cabins
Crescent Moon is located only thirty minutes from the capital, yet is one of the most peaceful and remote hotels on the island. The trails within the valley where it is located, are perfect for exploring, reflection and fitness. The valley has long rainforest and volcanic rock ridges that frame the meandering river through the grassy savannah below. This area has an impressive bird inventory, as Crescent Moon is located in the foothills of the rainforest, with wonderful flowers all around. The few residents in the area are mostly farmers and are very welcoming.
All four cabins as well as the dining room, are set within a luscious garden sunset, and are located so as to take advantage of the wonderful Caribbean Sea views from 1800 feet up, as well as the incredible sunset. The cabins themselves are naturally designed with tropical woods and calming Caribbean colours, with well ventilated interiors that keep cool and breezy. The beds are locally crafted and positoned to make the most of the view and each cabin has an en-suite bathroom with a hot and cold shower. Each cabin has a private enclosed veranda that is spacious and relaxed with hammock and lounge chairs.
Crescent Moon is owned and managed by a family who cherish their environment and are passionate about food, most of which is homegrown and organic, with fish and meat coming from local farmers and fisherman.
This delightful lodge, situated in the centre of the island, is perfectly positioned for exploring the island and hiking all the key spots in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park.
