Eastern Additions

For something different ... introducing wonderful Kerala and sublime Sri Lanka

Eastern Additions – Sri Lanka & Kerala Holidays

On the other side of the world from the Caribbean and Latin America, we have grown to know and love two regions of the Indian sub-continent, which we would like to share with you. We have called this ‘Eastern Additions’ and it includes the lovely island of Sri Lanka and Kerala, South India’s most serenely beautiful state.

At the southern tip of the sub-continent, you will find the stunning tropical island of Sri Lanka. The island is a renowned paradise of abundant bird species and wildlife, including large numbers of leopard and herds of elephants, which flourish in a range of beautiful habitats provided by its national parks, spectacular mountain scenery and golden beaches. Surrounded by Indian Ocean, it is also a great destination for whale and dolphin watching. Combine all this, with a diverse culture, including no fewer than seven UNESCO World Heritage sites, ancient temples, colonial history and tea plantations, and it is not difficult to see the appeal of Sri Lanka. Add in, the friendly smiling people and we are more than confident, you will not be disappointed by a visit to this enchanting island.

Kerala is a narrow strip of coast in South India, consisting of layered lush green vegetation reaching down to the Arabian Sea. Known for its beaches, languid network of glistening backwaters and the spice and tea-covered hills of the Western Ghats, it is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the country. This is India’s most literate state and a land of diverse religions living in harmony, where you can find Hindu temples, mosques, churches, and even synagogues. With scenery ranging from beautiful high altitude blue mountains to pristine rain forests and golden beaches; wonderful birding; ayurvedic spas and an enormous range of accommodation that includes enchanting homestay opportunities; Kerala has so much to offer.
